WHO?
Double Coverage are the UK’s leading source of information and analysis for British American Football.
Formally established in 2011, DC has persisted where others have fallen by the wayside due to the open and diverse nature of the team behind the website – spread across the entire British American Football Community, but united by a driving passion for the British game.
DC’s content is free and open to all, with the team itself made up of voluntary contributors. While DC has worked successfully with sponsors and partners, these earnings basically are only enough to keep the website itself up and running.
From our audience survey and regular direct feedback from the community, we know the British American Football Community wants more from its media coverage. Deserves more.
And we want to provide that coverage – but to do so, we’re going to need your support.
WHY?
Double Coverage are looking for support that will allow them to transform the way British American Football is perceived by both British sports fans – many of whom don’t even know it exists – and American Football fans even further afield.
DC’s aim is to bring the media coverage of British American Football (Britball) in line with the quality of coverage achieved by the American Football communities across Europe and the wider American Football world.
We are quite literally looking for you, the Britball Nation, to kickstart our growth and allow us access to the resources that will in turn provide the ‘Nation with the increase in quality and quantity of coverage it needs, and deserves.
With your support we can not only provide current ballers and fans of the game with better media coverage, but also spread Britball to a far wider audience!
The NFL estimates there are more than 6 million American Football fans in the UK. How many do you think know there’s probably an opportunity to play the sport themselves, right on their doorstep?
WHAT?
So how will your generous support be used?
These funds will go directly into upgrading DC’s resources. This crowdfunding isn’t asking for you to pay us for our content, we’re simply asking you help us get the tools to provide you with bigger, better (but just as free as before!) articles and videos and events.
What sort of things are we talking about here?
Complete Web Site Overhaul.
We’re not talking about making it look pretty – though we’ll be doing that too. We’re talking about rebuilding dblcoverage.com from the ground up to make it the go-to resource for all things Britball.
Alongside content and analysis of ALL contact-based formats of the sport in the UK (We've already expanded our Women's coverage with U17, U19 and flag to follow this summer), our goals include:
- Building and maintaining an archive of Britball through the ages, to one day include a record of every competitive fixture of Britball ever played
- A database of all teams – current, past and future – including features to enable those interested in joining the ‘Nation to locate their nearest active programme, or nearest upcoming fixture, their location and contact details, with but a few clicks.
Information about location, fixtures, contact details, uniform, etc will be but a few clicks away.
- Content hubs that will intuitively allow you to learn more about the different formats of British American Football, providing both those new to the game, and with years of experience under their belt, access to everything they need to know about the sport in the UK.
Enhanced Community Features.
We’ve always been a diverse bunch behind the scenes here at DC, with contributors from every corner of the Britball Nation, and so it’s no surprise that we want to bring the Nation even closer together.
The dark corners of the interwebs are littered with lost and forgotten club websites, and so one of our aspirations is to build dblcoverage.com in such a way as to allow each organisation to have their own little hub within DC.
It’s not a replacement for your own websites, but a place to share all the quality content that the British American Football teams produce, that DC simply don’t have the time and resources to keep track of – match reports, announcements, events, full game highlight videos, coaching adverts, etc. – allowing you direct access to the largest British American Football Audience on the internet!
New Content Formats
Life seems to only get busier, and days shorter, so we understand that many in the Nation simply don’t have the time to stop and read multiple articles each and every day.
Never fear! You may have noticed we’ve begun to venture into the realms of video content and live streaming, and this is something we have every intent of pursuing further. We developed our video content earlier in the British University season, but it's a time-consuming process and with our goal being to only continue to expand this content, we're going to need support to take things further.
Additionally, we want to build on our partnerships across the BritballNation to begin making high quality live coverage of Britball games a far more common feature. 6 million NFL fans in the UK? If we, the BritballNation can get 1% of them watching a weekly live broadcast of a Britball game? You could revolutionise the sport.
Events
Now we’re talking big picture, but why not aim high? We’re talking All-Star Invitational games, Charity Events, Annual Awards shows, Coaching Seminars.
You want it. We want it. With your support we can make that happen.
HOW?
This funding will allow us to purchase the tools – software, subscriptions, the time of skilled personnel – we need to make these upgrades to the coverage of your game.
The goal is for this funding to be the seed via which Double Coverage can grow and thereby establish greater investment and engagement with the sport and British American Football Community.
Our aspiration is to be able to support initially one full time staff member, as well as be able to assist the many contributors to DC who devote their time, knowledge and expertise to the site and its projects moving forwards.
