Drowning Man Saved, Camera Lost!
Donation protected
Please help me purchase a new, lightweight camera system which I need by June 20th, 2016 for a 5 week backpacking trip on the Colorado Trail with three other life-long friends. The camera I had intended to use for the trip was destroyed last summer while I rescued a near-drowning swimmer friend in Lava Falls in the Colorado River-Grand Canyon.
My three women friends and I intend to hike the Colorado Trail from Denver to Durango; nearly 500 miles through diverse ecosystems; from Ponderosa Pine forests and cascading creeks to high alpine, snow-laden country with a net elevation gain of over 89,000 feet! Known by many as The NOBS (photo here), our group's friendship spans 35 years with many wilderness and life adventures together so we are raring to go!
Throughout our journey, I intend to photograph “Each Day A Landscape,” inspired by hand-tinted photography of the early to mid 20th century. I have always appreciated how the warmth and depth of this genre heightens the realism of the subject matter yet suspends the viewer in a dream-like state; see examples of my work at: http://bit.ly/deborahsussex
Your generous funding would have the greatest impact on my ability to experience artistic growth through realizing a carefully planned personal project utilizing the appropriate and necessary artistic tools, which I otherwise do not have financial access to.
Thank you for your consideration of my request. I will be hittin'-the-trail soon so I hope you will consider supporting my efforts by June 20th. As a dedicated artist and life-long outdoor traveler, I look forward to sharing my new work both online and in a gallery show this fall at Open Shutter Gallery in Durango, CO!
