On October14, 2016 we found out Debbie has Stage 4 colon cancer. She is a RN at the Heart hospital in Louisiana and has no vacation time or money to cover out of pocket co-pays or prescriptions and she needs to continue to pay into her health benefits through work, which alone total $688 per month. On October 24th she underwent surgery, having approximately 6 inches of her colon removed and biopsied another mass on her liver. Today she is undergoing another surgery to have a port installed to start chemotherapy. She will be receiving 12 treatments of chemo for 24 weeks total. (1 treatment every 2 weeks) Please extend a hand to help financially through the next 6months to help her focus on the healing process and keeping her faith and not all the financial burdens that will affect or complicate her recovery. Debbie is an OR Nurse and care giver. She is very selfless and thinks about what she can do for other people before herself. In 2010, she donated a kidney to her brother who was in Chronic Renal Failure due to Polycystic Kidney Disease. Like I said she is a caregiver and if you don't know her maybe you or a loved one or even a friend have encountered her through her job reassuring and taking care of you, your loved one or friend. She is a wife and a mother of 3 (2 boys 11 and 14 years old and a daughter 23) and a grandmother of 2 year old Demi Rose Overstreet. Her husband James generally travels over 1000 miles away for extended periods of time for work and is currently home to take care of his wife during this difficult time of need. As he has now become the sole provider, this adds to the financial burden. As a loving, caring and protective husband James greatly desires to be with his wife to comfort her and support her as she faces potentially more surgery and the start of at least 6 months of chemotherapy. Donations received will help to lessen the burden and allow James to stay home with his wife as they begin the physical and emotional journey of fighting Metastatic Colon Cancer.
Whether you are able to donate or not, we ask that you please include Deborah, James and their family in your prayers. They are Christians and believe in the Almighty and Great Healer. Deborah also asks that should you ever suffer from fatigue and just "know something's not right" but all the doctors say your lab tests are fine, be proactive and consider asking for a referral for colonoscopy. It could save your life!
