Diamond's Trip to Study Abroad!

Hello all!
Let me start off by saying how much I appreciate you for reading this. I don't particularly enjoy asking for help financially, not when it comes to my own needs at least. I much rather prefer to do things on my own, working as hard as I can to make the things that I want come into action.
For those of you who may not know me, my name is Diamond and I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Management and Hospitality in Eastern Michigan University’s Honor’s College, maintaining a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.73. After earning a bachelor’s degree, I will continue to graduate school in pursuit of my MBA. By advancing my education, I hope to one day inspire others and alter society’s view of young black women and the outcome of children raised by single women. Using my degree, I aspire to achieve my long term goal of opening a business and expanding my brand, much like my career role model, Valarie Daniels-Carter, owner of V&J foods.
I have been given the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Beijing and Tanjin this May. However, due to the nature of this class, I am unable to receive financial aid. I’ve always wanted to travel, but it was always just a dream, I never knew this type of opportunity would present itself. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and excited to embark on a journey that will change my life.
I am asking for your support. This opportunity means more than a simple vacation. It is quite the contrary. Studying abroad will allow me to grow academically and personally,it will provide me with tools for life after college , and aid in the development of my undergraduate research. I've heard countless stories of how studying abroad has changed people’s lives because it allows people to learn, experience and explore life in an unique space. Traveling abroad will also allow me to gain cultural experience and learn life lessons that are nearly impossible to grasp without tackling it hands on. In addition to this, the credits I earn while abroad will count toward both my degree and my application to graduate with Highest Honors.
China this summer means that I get to continue to be a role model for my younger sisters, Simone and Melynnee, while continuing to make my family proud. I want to show them that through prayer, hard work, motivation and more importantly, belief, anything is possible! I used to believe that opportunities such as this were only for the rich and famous but by the grace of God I am proving that is a lie, by pushing toward my goal and my dream of traveling out of the country. My years at EMU are coming to a close and I know I would sincerely regret not doing whatever it takes to make it to China.
I've been working a full time job over the summer, while still taking classes, in effort to save, but I just can't get to the point I need to be at. Like all others things that I've accomplished, I can't do it alone. I need my support system on my side. I am asking for your help to break economic and racial barriers that tell me that because of my racial background, I can't. Even if you cannot help financially, I would love to have you in my corner, sending post cards, praying for safety, maturity, growth, and also for the other students on the trip. I know that God will make a way regardless but as the Word says, "ask and you shall receive" therefore I am being obedient and am asking.
Please help me reach my goal of raising $5000 so that I can cover the costs of securing my place in the program, passport, visa, and flight package which, as mentioned, are not covered by financial aid. No amount is too little and every donation will get me one step closer to exploring another side of the world!
