Deer Trail Sportsman Camp - Fire Relief Fund
Donation protected
Deer Trail Sportsman is not your average hunting club. This is a club that has been around for several decades, 3 to be exact. The members are family, some by blood others by choice. You won't find just any average hunter or huntress amongst the village of 30 plus travel campers.
The club members are men, women, children, and pets that come together just about every weekend during hunting seasons to share stories, encourage hunts, fellowship, and instill the value of being outdoors. You may see why DTS hunting club is a home away from home. This club was built with hardworking hands and has seen blood, sweat and tears over the years. With any set backs its always brought everyone together to make it better than before, but nothing would have prepared the club for what took place on the last weekend of deer season this year...
On Saturday January 12, 2019 at approximately 2:15am the club members were awakened by an enraged fire taking over the central portion of main camp. Within a matter of minutes the fire had engulfed 9 travel campers with 11 structures, all personal belongings (clothing, TVs, appliances, hunting gear, guns, etc), 3 UTVs, 3 4-wheelers, and 3 personal vehicles, children’s outdoor play sets and much more.
There were 5 amongst the group that were sleeping and escaped from the fire with only seconds to spare, but also left them helplessly watching thier second homes burn to the ground. Thank the good Lord above that no lives were lost in such devastation.
We are now reaching out to the community in hopes to raise donations for the fire relief fund to rebuild and make it what it once was so that DTS hunting club can continue to encourage the ethics of hunting and the values of family, friendship, and fellowship.
