Deliciously Disabled Party

Deliciously Disabled Consulting was founded a year ago with the bold vision to make disability more accessible within pop culture, revealing not what disability could be or should be, but what it is. We seek to create and promote frank discussion about the lived experience of disability. We provide education, consulting, event-planning and other programing in areas including: sexuality, attendant care, academics and career-planning, physical and social accessibility. This is achieved through global on-site, remote, and new media interaction.

Our work has been featured in Huffington Post, The Advocate, and Out Magazine among others, as we discuss a new way to talk about disability.

It is our mission to enable people with and without disabilities to talk about how disability feels. Every voice is valued.

Last year, we were incredibly fortunate to be able to launch the world’s first ever fully accessible "play party," by Buddies in Bad Times Theatre on August 14, 2015. This masquerade-themed party welcomed everyone and encouraged the exploration of sexuality within a safe and respectful environment. The event garnered international press and was an unmitigated, sold-out success! Since then we have had many requests from the community at large to host another event.  It was amazing opportunity to engage communities in the reality of disability!  The outpouring of support and thanks in response showed us that this was for many a game changer in how see disability.

This year, Stella and I were excited to try bringing this event back bigger, better and bolder than before.  We have been learning that this vision of an accessible play party is a lot easier said than done.

In order to make this event accessible to the disability community, we have to consider different access needs:

-       Sign Language Interpreters (450.00)

-       Hoyer Lift Rentals ($200.00-400.00)

-       Attendant Care (15.00/hr x 2 attendants x 5 hrs)

 We also need help with:

-       venue costs

-       Decorations

-       Safe Sex Materials

-       DJs

- Funds to grow the brand and spread our messaging making disability accessible to everyone, everywhere

With your HELP, the Deliciously Disabled play party can become a staple in the sex positive community, while also ensuring that nobody with a disability feels excluded from sexual expression.     Your donation will give us the tools and materials that we need to show the world the delectability of disability.

We created this event to celebrate the disabled community, and to show the world that access to sexuality matters.    These funds will help us give the community a space to feel safe, sexy and embrace their identities that have been so inaccessible to them!!   Let's make sex and disability accessible to all.
