Denise Foundation Uganda

Our main vision is comprised of three major pillars, namely: Education, Health & Sanitation
The Denise Foundation is a charity organisation founded by Fred Ssemmanda and Lisa Seferi in memory of Denise Robertson.
In 2004 on her visit to Uganda with world vision Denise found Fred and his brother Emmanuel living in a mud hut eating white ants, orpharned after they lost both of their parents to AIDS.
On her return Denise knew she had to do something, After a conversation with Lisa whilst getting her nails done, Lisa said she would raise the money to build the boys a house, having 2 boys a similar age as fred and Emmanuel this really touched Lisa's heart. Denise and Lisa held a charity auction with the team at Pure Bliss and raised enough money to build Fred & Emmanuel a house. We have supported Fred through to his graduation and are very proud of his achievements and contiune to support him. Fred nows helps children like he once was.
We have 100 children registered with Denise Foundation 96 are currently sponsored, So we are still looking for sponsors for a few of our children.
Sponsorship costs £20 a month which covers school fees scholastic materials, school uniform and a daily school meal,on months when our children are not at school we provide a large food parcel for the family.
Our fundraising has enabled us to build three water wells throughout the village of Rakai to ensure there is clean drinking water in the village.
In 2018 Lisa visited Uganda with an ITV crew led by Phil Vickery, we were able to see the amazing impact that the water wells were having on the community. We were very concerned to see that the school did not have a kitchen or toilets for the children, so this was our next Fundraising project on our return . With some very kind donations from Martin Lewis and a lovely lady at This Morning and lots of fundraising, we have now built a kitchen at St Eria junior school and the much-needed toilet block. We have also renovated a large house for one of our families which had collapsed
We are currently raising money to buy land to enable us to grow some of our own food and expand on the community pig farm which was started in December 2020 through a kind donation from Alice Beer from This Morning she purchased eight pigs for her colleagues instead of Christmas presents. The pigs then got busy and produced lots of piglets Holly gave birth to 7 piglets and Judy gave birth to 5 on 14th September 2021 . We are just waiting for Ruth to give birth and we will have lots of pigs. These can be purchased at a cost of £32.50 for the children so they can then breed them and provide an income by selling the piglets at the market
With your support we can make a positive impact to the children of Rakai.
If you would like to set up a monthly donation from as little as £3 please get in touch with us for our bank details.
