Our Story:
For three months in the summer of 2016, Deorbital ran as a videogame-aligned journal for marginalized voices in the games writing sphere. In that time, we ran eleven articles, giving a spotlight to several diverse writers.
This fundraiser allows us to continue the work that began at Deorbital in 2016, in a new, quarterly journal format.
What Your Funds Support:
The funds from this fundraiser are only and directly supporting the creation of four quarterly reviews from Deorbital, each containing (at minimum) six articles from games writers around the world.
Articles will be compensated at $200 per writer. The remaining funds will be used to commission custom art from marginalized artists and cover site maintenance and fees.
Our Mission:
Deorbital's number one priority remains to amplify new writing that we believe deserves a wider audience, and to make sure those writers get paid for their labor.
We believe that good writing deserves to be read, especially from those who have been under-represented in the critical games writing world. Deorbital is our way of making that happen with the direct aid of you, our readers!
