Deputy Hubbard SRCSO cancer expenses

Back in February 2018, my little brother, Nicolas, came down with a cough that would not go away.  We were at start of allergy season so he started the normal allergy pill regimen, assuming it was nothing more than seasonal allergies. The first week into May, he finally had enough and decided to see the doctor.  They told him that he has a severe sinus infection and prescribed him Amoxicillin.  After one week on the antibiotics he broke out in a serious rash that was believed to be an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. Saturday morning, May 12th 2018, he had to go to the ER as the reaction was only getting worse.  We had no idea at that time that this allergic reaction could be what helped save his life.
By Sunday morning Nicolas was transported to a larger hospital to seek treatment for Stage III Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Nicolas is an Army veteran and is now a Deputy Sheriff with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff Department in Florida. At only 25 years old, Nic is an amazing husband to Lauren, who is 22.  Lauren is a stay at home mom to their 2 month old son, Logan.
From a young age Nic had three goals.  He wanted to join the military and be a police officer.  He wanted to become a husband and lastly he wanted to be a father.  He has worked hard to succeed and reach his goals.  As a young couple and family, my brother and his wife are at the start of a journey that has already brought them a great deal of stress and anxiety.  Right now they are trying to come to terms with all the news and doctor details that have been thrown at them.
Amazingly the Sheriff's department is doing what they can to make sure that his job is preserved. Nicolas's career as a Deputy is their only source of income.  Over the next several months he will be on a desk duty status until he is cleared to return to patrol.  Nic's salary alone will not cover the hospital bills that are going to start accumulating over the months of treatment. Nicolas will be doing everything he can to get healthy and back to work full time.  My hope with this Go Fund Me page is for the community of people that we have around us to come together and help my brother and his family. I want their focus to be on getting Nic healthy and taking care of 2 month old, Logan.  I am hoping that we can help lift some of the stress the financial aspect of this can bring.  Any donation amount will help and will be appreciated beyond measure.

*Update* Nic's last chemo treatment was October 26. The first week into November Nic was having a deja vu of symptoms and went back to the hospital. After countless lab work ups, scans, cultures and antibiotics over a few weeks, a PET scan revealed what we all feared-the cancer never left. Nic and his family have now left their home and moved up to Baltimore, to be treated at John's Hopkin's for Resistant Refractory Hodgkin's Disease with a clinical trial and eventually, a bone marrow transplant. Nic had a 90% chance of remission with chemo, which failed. His family is praying for strength and  understanding through these tough times, and trying to still find joy in the day-to-day. Their son is now 10 months old, and this is his first Christmas.
Please keep my brother, his family, and the doctor's at JH in your prayers as Nicolas continues this battle for his life.
