Detroit Writers Guild Knight Challenge Match 2020

Want to join me in making a difference? In bringing people together? In supporting differently abled writers and musicians? In understanding what differently abled artists can teach us all? Well, then-What Ya Waiting For?? I'm raising the final little bit of money for The Detroit Writers' Guild's All Access Cafe which received a two year 2019-2021 $27,000 matching grant from The Knight Foundation's Detroit Challenge Grant Program. To that end, Detroit Writer's Guild, has raised all of this match less $1200.00. Thanks in advance for your contribution (large or small-all amounts sincerely appreciated) to this cause that means so much to our Literary Community in Metro Detroit and to helping us to be all inclusive featuring differently abled .
Our two-three year program features both differently abled poets, writers and musicians offering readings & performances at Third Man Records in the Cass Corridor/Midtown/Wayne State area. Craft talks and workshops by visiting authors and musicians will take place at The Detroit Public Libraries Main Branch visit. ALL PROGRAMS ARE FREE and OPEN TO ALL AGES & PUBLIC! Coming soon: Edward Hirsch, Jillian Weise, Sean Forbes, Mark Levin, Bonnie Rose Marcus, Fluent, Christine Rhein, Denise Sedman,, Justin Rogers and more. Wayne State University College of Arts & Sciences & Third Man Records are in for the long haul. The All Access Cafe was developed by M. L. Liebler to host differently abled artists from the US, Detroit and from around the world. The line up is currently being developed and will soon be posted. The first event, if we can match the Knight dollars, will be in late February. The Knight Grant releases funds after matching dollars are raised. We can do this Detroit. www.dwguild.org
The Detroit Writers' Guild is a 501C3 nonprofit eligible for tax write offs. ALL contributions large or small are appreciated and will help a great deal. To be part of an established (since 1983) and inclusive urban/suburban literary arts organization that serves all. To participate in a multi cultural and racially diverse arts movement in Metro Detroit. To break down the long time barriers between our city and our suburbs through the arts. To belong to an organization that puts literary artists and literary audiences first. To be part of a growing Detroit Literary Arts movement.
