Funeral Expenses for Devante Brooks

I was on my way home 6/3/18 and witnessed Devante Brooks walking in the grass on the side of the road. As I passed him a young woman driving a truck started to pass me and was looking down. She was  not paying attention and went off the road and hit Devante from behind. When I got to him he was in extremely bad shape and I wasn’t sure he would live. I got the honor today to meet his family, but didn’t get to see him because he was in surgery. Devante has suffered two broken femurs, a fractured spine,  collapsed lung, multiple broken ribs, he’s had to have  a kidney removed, and multiple lacerations to his face and body, and a severe head injury. Devante is only 25 and has a young son and a baby boy on the way. Unfortunately, he has no medical insurance and will be unable to work or support his family for a very long time.  As you know a hospital stay in the trauma unit is extremely expensive and his medical bills will be well over a million dollars. I would like to raise money to take some of this burden off of his family as they have enough to worry about at the moment.

Statement from the family: Devante Brooks is a 25 year old who is focused on getting his life together for his son and his family. He changed his life around when his son was born and decided it was time to put everything away and focus on bettering his life & since been on the right track to get his life together. He makes sure that his family is his first priority. His love is unconditional. The people in his life mean everything to him he is the most caring and devoted person I know. On June 3rd he decided to walk to the store when he was struck from behind by someone who decided to look down at their phone. He was knocked a few feet away and a bystander by the name of Katie Anthony performed CPR on him until ambulance arrived. He was life flighted to Vanderbilt university & is in critical condition.  No amount is to small and would be greatly appreciated by the family and I.  Thank you and God bless
