Didsbury Sk8park
Donation protected
The Didsbury Sk8park is a project that was started in 2015 when an eleven-year-old decided to write a letter to Didsbury’s then mayor Rick Mousseau. A letter hoping that the town would partner with him to build a better skateboarding space in which current riders in Didsbury could ride and interact with others. The reality is that the size and skill level of our skateboarding/scooter/BMX community has outgrown our existing facility (which is also not reflective of modern design and construction standards). Not having a safe facility forces a large population of our children and youth who desire to participate in these activities to seek unsanctioned and often dangerous areas throughout the Town or travel to other communities in the area who have chosen to create modern skateparks.
Since writing the original letter sent in 2015, a group of young men, with the support of their parents, have started the Didsbury Sk8park Society. The committee has secured land at the Didsbury Memorial Complex grounds and have received funds from the Town of Didsbury to hire New Line Skateparks Inc. This company has designed a space that will require virtually no structural maintenance for years. A space designed for numerous riders from the very young to the older and more skilled. It is a space that will be apart of a larger plan that is accessible to all with walkways, playground equipment, green space for benches and picnic tables. The more community members that we can attract the more our youth will value our park and respect it. If we create something unique other communities will also gather and spend time in Didsbury.
These boys need your help to raise funds for this skate park to leave a legacy of fun for years to come. Any donation amount is welcome and appreciated! Thank you!
