Diksha's Funding- Scoliosis Surgery
Donation protected
Hi my name is Diksha,
I was diagonosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis
at the age of 13. This was with two curves- thoracic and lumbar. My curve degree was 23 but over the past three and a half years it has increased to 57 degrees. The surgery degree for most patients according to doctors is 45-50°, therefore with such deep curves, I became a candidate for spinal surgery and at the high risk of continued curve worsening even after I finish growing.
This has been really difficult amongst my family because we are all unsure how the future is going to go, however, will try the absolute best for me. Even though having this during my schooling years has been a challenge as a teenager being limited to do things like a normal teen, it was possible through the help from my family and friends who have poured their love and support over me.
My parents have done everything in their power for me, from getting a back-brace for me to sending me all the way overseas to get treatment done, when we are so financially unstable. I will never be able to thank them for all that they have done for me and after trialling every possible way to conquer this condition, nothing has seemed to work therefore this seems to be our only way.
If I don't have this surgery soon and my curve continues, they expect more damage to my heart, lungs and kidneys. Unfortunately this surgery is not covered by our insurance and the amount of money needed for this surgery is enormous, plus the travel. This treatment has to be done 618 kms away from our location as there are no clinics close to where we live. Each passing week my condition worsens and I'd appreciate any help that you can give me to reach this goal.
Thank you for hearing my story and helping in anyway possible! Please feel free to share my story with other friends to spread awareness and make a difference in my life!
Please keep me in your prayers and the Lord's blessing upon me and my family xx
With Love,
Diksha Sharma
