The Displaced Period Project
Donation protected
For displaced persons, that time of the month truly is a dreadful 2-7 days. These people are forced to forego their innate human dignity and go without the resources they need to have a safe and pleasant period.
This problem is particularly pertinent with the implementation fo HB2 in North Carolina, where transgendered persons are unable to use the bathrooms associated with their chosen gender, and are unable to change their sanitary necessities in a timely manner. In this particular demographic there are both men and women who have awful monthly periods.
We would like to play our part in increasing access to these necessities and need your help to do so. As such I have created this account in the hope of raising $2000.00 to create period packs for 100 people.
Each kit costs $15.00 and includes:
Tote Bag, 15" x 13" x 3", Nylon, Asst. Styles
Maxi Pads, Regular, 12-16/pk.
Tampons, Tampax Brand, Box of 20
Shampoo & Body Bath, 8 oz., w/Flip Top
Soap, Bar, 4.75 oz.
Antiperspirant/Deodorant, 1.5 oz., Roll-On
Mouthwash, 4 oz., Alcohol Free
Hand & Body Lotion, 4 oz., Flip Top
Toothpaste, 4.75 oz. Tube, Mint
Toothbrush, Deluxe, 52 Tuft
Dental Floss, Unwaxed, 12 Yd.
Lip Balm, 2/Pack, .30 oz., Assorted Flavors
Hairbrush, Standard, Ivory
Comb, Plastic, 7", Black
Facial Tissue, Pocket Pack, 15 ct.
Wash Cloth, 12" x 12", 100% Cotton, Asst. Colors
1 Diva cup= $40.00

1 Thinx underwear (particularly helpful to transgender men)= $40.00
https://www.shethinx.com/
Reusable sanitary items are particularly helpful as they can be used for upto 12 hours at a time, are easy to clean, and are cost effective in the long term.
For every Thinx underwear bought, a pack of pads is donated to girls in Uganda, thus increasing their chances of staying in school and empowering generations of women in this country.
This cause holds a special place in my heart because it is deplorable for people in the United States to be denied their basic human rights to health, and furthers the cycle of poverty and homelessness. Through the use of improper materials for the accommodation of the lack of sanitary materials, people are exposing themselves to illnesses and diseases, and some face incarceration for stealing tampons out of tampon dispensaries, while others forego opportunities that may alleviate their situations due to the discomforts of having their periods. This is unacceptable.
As women we are taught to embrace our periods, yet for 50,000+ people, their periods are a nightmare.
All proceeds raised will be used to purchase these items (except for a $0.30 that gofundme takes from every donation). The items will be donated to the Durham Crisis Response Center.
