Government Shutdown

“The hardest part about being strong is that no one ever asks if you’re ok.”
Being a single mom and sole provider, my 3 dependent children (ages 17, 6, and 4) rely solely on me to survive. As a person impacted by the government shutdown, my income has come to a halt due, causing stress and worry of how I am going to make ends meet until I get another regular paycheck. The struggle is definitely real for me now. Never in a million years would I have ever dreamed that I’d be turning to GoFundMe asking for help, because in all honesty, I’ve always felt there was probably someone else who could use the help more than my family. The truth is that even without the presence of a shutdown, my family still struggles, but I’m usually able to make things work out, because that’s what single mom’s do, we make things work out. I do work a part-time job, and have taken on some extra hours to try to make do. But the reality of it is that those extra hours, plus donating plasma twice a week for money are barely enough to pay the utilities, but I am thankful to have that little money coming in. My 17 year old understands what’s going on, but every day I hear him complain about his wisdom teeth hurting because they have to be pulled soon. I have insurance, but I can’t risk incurring any additional out of pocket medical expenses not knowing when I’ll be able to pay them. My 6 and 4 year old, which I adopted, have no idea what’s going on, so I try not to show the anxiety and stress. Even though they are my great-nephews, I adopted them to give them a better life that their biological parents couldn’t provide. Now I feel like I’m failing them because the stabile home that I have provided for them is now at risk.
I really appreciate you taking the time to read about my situation. If you would like to help and are able to do so, any donations are very much appreciated. Thank you so very much.
