Katie Solliday is a good friend, daughter, and sister. She is a bright senior at Campo Verde High School and Captain of the Colorguard team. Katie holds a 4.0 GPA and was accepted into Arizona State University's Barrett Honors College to participate in their biomedical engineering program in fall 2017.
Katie's plans came to a screeching halt on November 22, 2016, when Katie was air evacuated to the hospital for emergency surgery due to a brain hemmorhage. After the surgery, Katie spent 8 weeks in a coma battling for her life. Now in this new year, Katie must relearn how to do everything she once knew. She has already conquered lifting a finger, smiling, speaking and eating, but Katie still has a long way to go. She doesn't have functional use of her arms and legs and requires constant care.
Katie has faced the harsh reality of surviving a life-threatening brain hemorrhage with amazing strength and personal courage. Each day she suffers through nerve pain, while continuing to make remarkable progress in her recovery. But Katie still has a long way to go. Her care and rehabilitative treatments will be a long, slow and very expensive process. Katie is strong willed and has already shown during her physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy that she maintains an attitude of never giving up.
We can all help Katie's family with the medical bills so they can focus on Katie's recovery. With Katie's personal dedication, medical science and you, Katie will continue to recover. Support Katie's new journey, become part of her determination. Katie is willing to fight, and with your help, Katie can win. Thank you and God Bless
