Documentary about LGBTQ Ukrainians in USA

Hi everyone!


My name is Yuriy Dvizhon and I’m a music video director and LGBTQ activist from Kiev, Ukraine. I'm currently in post production for my second documentary about LGBTQ rights in Ukraine. This documentary will focus on LGBTQ rights in the USA and, more specifically, five LGBTQ Ukrainians who moved to the US to live their true lives, open and free from the homophobia present in Ukrainian society.





I also conducted interviews with experts from different aspects of LGBTQ life in the USA: religion, sex education, LGBTQ shelters, sexual health, history, etc. It’ll be the first big educational movie about LGBTQ in all former Soviet countries. I would like to present it one week before Kyiv Pride (June 23, 2019).




I started this passion project by myself and with my own financing this past winter. I have already filmed 80% of it and will finish the last 20% at LA Pride this year (June 10th) with the five characters from my documentary.


I am asking for your assistance to:

- buy tickets to LA for me, Kristina (character from NYC) and her girlfriend, Bogdan (character from SF), place to stay during the pride. 

- for all post production needs (scenario, montage, color correction, sound, two versions of titles (Russian and English language), posters, good promo on all social media in Ukraine, promo in Kiev metro,  presentation at the movie theater in Kiev, etc.).





I hope that, with your help, my documentary could aid the LGBTQ community in Ukraine and change their lives for the better. And, maybe one day, they can lead an open and honest life with their friends and family and without the homophobia present today.
