Titan is a pure bred Rottweiler - a breed that is very discriminated against. Titan is actually one of the sweetest dogs I've met and has had toddlers (and our other puppy) climbing/biting/pulling on his ears and hasn't shown an ounce of aggression towards those he knows he's safe around.
On 5/24/18, a sprinkler contractor trespassed into our gated backyard when I wasn't home - despite being specifically told to not go back their without letting me know so I could bring Titan inside. So in this moment, Titan did what he was supposed to do (although, we weren't sure if he would as he's never been put in a situation like this and shown aggression - my wife was shocked that he actually did) and he defended his territory.
Titan bit the contractor on the thigh - nothing egregious, and he's fully up to date on his shots - but enough to scare the contractor to leave the backyard. After he told me, I expressed that was why I told him to not go back there without letting me know.
A few days later he tells me he's filing a claim against me for $4500. This is a ridiculous claim that he brought on himself and is not fair that Titan (and our family he protects) are the ones to pay the price.
We also want to also spread the word and change the laws here in Utah - we have gotten in contact with a local news station and written our local state representatives. But any funds in excess we will put towards lobbying for more fair laws to be put in place to protect animals that are just trying to protect their humans.
