Dog Found On Railroad NEEDS SURGERY
Donation protected
Easter, my friends and I were with our husky Zara at a local dog park and we started to hear whines. They were really high pitched and Zara immediately heard them and started whining back. We follow Zara out of the park as its starting to sleet and she leads us up onto a (active) railroad track. There's a husky maybe 50 yards down from us sitting in the MIDDLE of the tracks. She's whimpering and falling over whenever she tries to stand.
We spent at least an hour trying to get her off the tracks. After another hour my dad gets there with gloves and a blanket. As they're picking her up (making sure not to touch her back leg) the train comes. They made it off the track with literally seconds to spare. This dog would have died without us. Now she's at my dads house finally getting some rest. Her back left leg is very hurt and we're taking her to the vet tomorrow to get her checked out.
We will update the goal as soon as we find out what procedures she will need and how bad it is.
She was found with a red collar with no tags what so ever.
We also found a muddy, ripped up shock collar a few feet behind her (she must have ripped it off somehow). Her neck fur was horribly matted from the shock collar which means she had been wearing way too tight for a long time.
It looks like a blood vessel had popped in both her eyes, possibly due to the shock collar.
