The Dome: Outdoor Recreation Center

A Sound Diary of Climbing a Mountain
My wife and I would like to start an outdoor recreation center for people who are blind or visually impaired. Sue is blind herself and we have spent most of our careers working in the field of blind rehabilitation. Peope who are blind are often left out when it comes to outdoor recreation. But we know differently, having hiked, swam, kayaked, cross country skied, fished and in general enjoyed the natural environment everywhere we have lived. Last year we bought a geodesic dome on 19 acres of land with lake frontage on Great Pond, in Franklin, Maine. We would like to open up our home and property to anyone who is blind or visually impaired, and wants to learn how to enjoy outdoor recreation.
