Hello, my name is Destinee Filmore! I am a first year International Studies (IS) major at Spelman College and have the fantastic opportunity to study abroad in Harbin, China this summer!
The Back Story: I first heard about this opportunity via email and knew that it was unique and that I had to go! As an IS major, studying abroad is an essential part of my studies.
I plan on doing work with non-profit organizations and government agencies to invest in and enhance female entrepreneurship as a means for economic development.
Through research and my own experience as an entrepreneur, I understand how transformative owning your own business can be!

Spelman College & CIEE partnered up and offered 100 FREE PASSPORTS! I am one of the very lucky few young ladies to have been accepted by this program and will receive my passport in about two weeks! 2/28/17
So far I've received $1,500 in outside donations towards my goal!! Those donations are reflected in the donation total.
How YOU Can Help:
1. Donate. Donating to fund this study abroad opportunity would help me towards my goal of changing the world! Chances like this are scarce but can change not only my life but the lives of people that I meet and interact with abroad.
2. Support my business. Purchasing items from my shop (@deasa.jewelry on Instagram) is a way to support my trip to Shanghai while getting a little something for yourself!
