Moranbah pound dog to PTSD service dog
Donation protected
Remember Nova?
She has spent the past 8 months in Moranbah training and is now ready to venture to the Sunshine Coast to the head quarters of PTSD Dogs Australia. I am needing to one last time raise funds for her transport costs to the coast.
She will leave our beautiful little town at the end of this month and begin her next stage of training.
-————————————————————-
In the pound awaiting her euthanasia date.
Well! Kind hearted people working together, donated the funds to have Nova released from the pound
Isaac regional council worked with me to assist with desexing. Moranbah Veterinary clinic played a big role in providing her with outstanding veterinary care, at a very discounted rate. This allowed me to stretch Nova’s funds much further, this included all her vaccinations, yearly Heartworm injection, worming, flea treatment, even a bath! Dr Jim and staff - Nova is so very grateful.
Our biggest news though - Nova has been accepted as a PTSD service dog! This means after an extensive training program, she will be paired with a return service person or possibly a discharged firefighter or police person that is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. Mental health is such an important area of our health and something to not be taken lightly. I am very proud of this Moranbah pound dog and the exciting future she has ahead of her.
She will stay with myself for the next 10 weeks, training everyday. Nova will then head to the Sunshine Coast where she will complete her advanced training as a service dog. She will have to pass her assessment before being placed with her human. That is when it is Novas chance to make a difference in a humans life ❤️
We still have a few things cost wise to cover for Miss Nova such as a training bag, training mat and a few other pieces, any other donations are very appreciated and will help buy Nova these last few items.

Nova is currently sitting in the Moranbah Pound. Her ‘expiry’ day is two days away. That means in 48 hours this ball of fun will be booked for euthanasia. It’s a sad reality isn’t it? 7 months old and only 48 hours left.
Dont get me wrong, she needs training, she needs to be speyed, she needs worming, she needs vaccinations and heartworm prevention. The one positive, on her side is that she is heartworm negative.... Sadly this alone does not save you, when you are in a pound.
As a cert IV veterinary nurse I have the experience to train her, I have the room to house her but I need your help to save her.
What will the funds buy Nova?
Release fee from the pound
Council registration
Spey
Microchip
C7 vaccination with lepto booster in a month
Proheart injection for heartworm prevention
De-worming and flea treatment
And a collar and lead - her own lead - one that takes her to greet the world past the pound walls.
What do I hope for Nova after foster care? A place and family to call her own forever. Her own humans that will holiday with her, allow her to be their shadow and enjoy dog walks.
Wednesday the 10th of July is her last day..
If successful, Nova will live with me for a few months and work on some great doggy manners and be up for adoption when she is ready
