Ralf worked in the culinary arts field for over 30 years, working in prestigious hotels such as the  Hilton Chicago, Capitol Hilton, and the Jockey Club at the Fairfax Hotel.  He joined Hyatt Centric Arlington 7½ years ago as the Executive Chef.  He grew his career to move onto the hotel’s General Manager role.  He had built an amazing presence and partnership with the Rosslyn community, including partnering with A-SPAN, whose vision is to end homelessness in Arlington County.  Ralf took his background and passion for culinary arts and joined the board for La Cocina, a local organization whose mission is to create opportunities for social and economic change through feeding, educating, and empowering the minds of the community.  Culinary Internships at Hyatt Centric Arlington have led to full time job opportunities for many of their students.

He was the first to volunteer to dress up and poke fun at himself; or have pies thrown at his face; or cook for his team—if it meant that his associates had a great time.  He was the first to come up with innovative ideas for “how can we make this work” if it means taking care of a guest or associate.  Ralf was a cherished colleague, mentor, leader and friend.  He embodied Hyatt’s Purpose to “care for people so they can be their best.”

Ralf & Heather were married for 8 years and have two incredible boys: 5 and 7 years old.  He was super handy and loved working around his house.  YouTube and a particular coworker taught him all he needs to know about changing his own home’s AC system among other things.  He loved his Chicago Cubs.

Our beloved Ralf was recently diagnosed with cancer, a very rare and aggressive form of cancer.  While Ralf fought as hard as he possibly could, and had the support of all of his family and friends, he lost his battle and passed peacefully on Monday, July 30th.  He was at home surrounded by family and chose to leave this world in the arms of his loving wife Heather.

Ralf was extremely grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family and friends, and his wife, Heather, continues to be grateful for everything everyone has done for their family.

This profile was created to help the Hofmann family with financial support and will continue to be donated straight to them.

All funds will go toward his family.  Every amount counts.
