The purpose of the Don't Go to Prison Initiative and documentary is to deter Black youth from going to prison by creating economic, educational and leadership opportunities for youth in underserved areas that will allow them to fullfill their human potential which has been forgotten by a large segment of society. In addition to bringing awareness to the crisis of Black youth being herded into the prison system.
The Don't Go to Prison Initiative Inc is a think tank consisting of Black progressive attorneys, community activists, teachers, counselors, organizations and individuals from numerous professional backgrounds who want nothing more than to see the epidemic of Black youth mass incarceration end, and organize around ambitious community based projects that will help us attain the aforementioned goal.
