DPAC Legal Aid Fund

Several disabled people who used to be recipients of the Independent Living Fund are having problems with their care funding in a London borough. We believe that this borough is acting unlawfully for at least two reasons – one they are wrongly saying that disabled people must contribute all of their Disability Living Allowance towards the cost of their care even when they are in work and should be assessed as not having to pay anything and secondly by only giving people enough funding to pay their Personal Assistants £5.50 per hour which is well below the London living wage and puts the disabled person in the position of not being able to meet legal requirements.
As one of those people affected doesn’t qualify for legal aid we need to raise £1,000 initially to seek a solicitor and barrister’s opinion about whether the council can be taken to court.
