Drums for Chief Leschi Students
Donation protected
We are a 1st grade class at Chief Leschi School. Chief Leschi School is a BIE school (Bureau of Indian Education). One of our 1st grade goals is to make a traditional drum. Twice a week, we start our day by singing and dancing traditional songs (Puyallup Tribal Songs). Our students see and admire the older ones who have drums. They would like to experience making a drum as well. This is part of their culture. They want to take care of their drum and use it to support the dancers. We need deer hide and drum rings to accomplish this. The materials are currently on sale. With $450.00 we can purchase 20 drum kits and some paint!
