Dudley "Dud's"
Donation protected
Six years ago Kevin had to make the hardest decision of his life. Kevin had to let go of his best friend, Fifty (Bullmastiff). This decision came at a high cost. With the loss of his friend, Kevin became closed off to everyone and everything. He shut down to the point that he didn't feel anything anymore.
A time passed before Kevin decided it felt right to start looking for a new companion. It wasn't until March 19, 2018 that Kevin found the right dog for him. This canine wasn't like all the other dogs. This animal was special. A beautiful, male, fawn, Bullmastiff was to become Kevin's saving angel. From the first moment Kevin and Dudley were put in the play area both their worlds changed.
Kevin has not smiled like this in many years.

On March 20, 2018, Kevin brought Dudley, “Duds”, home and watched him become the goofball we love. At the same time, Kevin came back to life.
Tragically, on May 11 of this year, Kevin noticed Dudley collapsed to the floor. He didn't want any treats and when you would call him, he would try his best to come but his back legs would give out and he would just lay there. Later, that same night, Kevin and Toni noticed Dudley's gums were white and his eyes had a yellow color. They decided to take him to Oakland Veterinary Hospital emergency center.
Kevin and Toni loaded Dudley into the truck, he began to pant and his head fell backwards. He then collapsed and stopped breathing. Kevin picked Dudley up in his arms and cradled him. For whatever reason, that got Dudley to start breathing again.
Upon arriving at the veterinary hospital, Kevin and Toni were informed that Dudley was extremely anemic. His red blood cell count was 18% and his body wasn’t producing anymore red blood cells. They began giving Dudley blood transfusions and suppressed his immune system hoping this would give his body the rest it needed to fight whatever was causing this.
At this point they gave Dudley a 50/50 chance of surviving because they haven't seen or heard of a dog this young with this type of emergency. Kevin and Toni had to give this little guy a chance to fight.

On May 16, 2018, Kevin and Toni got a call that they could bring Dudley home but he would be on medication for at least 6 months and he would have to live in a bubble. But, before they could bring Dudley home they had to pay the veterinary hospital bill in full and buy the medication that would only last one week.
Dudley's medical bill for staying at Oakland Veterinary Referral Services came to $8,509.00
The medication that he has to take is:
•Atopica 100mg (twice a day)......cost $555.00 for 15 tablets (Immunosuppressant) •Prednisone 20mg (every 12 hours)......cost $32.00 for 60 pills (Steroid Therapy) •Plavix 75mg ( ½ tablet (37.5mg) a day)......cost $21.00 for 15 pills. (Clot Prevention) •Unfractionated Heparin 10,000 U/ml (5,000 U every 6 hours)......cost $45.00 (Clot Prevention)
•1ml Syringe (100 per box)...cost $47.00 •Cerenia 60mg (daily).....cost $77.00 (Anti-Nausea) Kevin and Toni have already had to fill: •3 prescriptions (25 vials) for the Heparin 5,000 U/ML from CVS Pharmacy at $32.00 per script. •Three 17IL bags of Royal Canin Gastro Intestinal Dry Puppy Food at $60.00 per bag.
The exorbitant cost of medical treatment(s) to save a loved one’s life in America is not just about the lives of our human family and friends. It extends to our furry family as well.

No life of a love one should ever come with a monetary price tag.
Please. Help us keep this beautiful animal, this family member (and by extension the human that loves him) alive by showing your support, empathy, and compassion in donating whatever you can to help cover medical expenses.
