Durango Horse Hay Fund
Donation protected
Southwest Colorado is in a severe drought and now a 28,000 acre fire is burning (and growing every day) just outside the town of Durango. The community is running out of stored hay and pastures have died. Last year's hay is almost gone and the lack of rain and irrigation water means that our local hay growers have nothing to sell. We need to buy large quantities of hay outside of our area and have it trucked in for horse owners in need in La Plata County. This will be expensive and donations are needed to help defray the cost.
This photo was taken today of one of my pastures. It would normally be knee-high and lush green this time of year.
Thank you to Equus Magazine and Back Country Horsemen of America for helping to spread the word about this GoFundMe site.
