Slivers Oakley Memorial Fund
At the turn of the last century Frank "Slivers" Oakley was a star. He clowned in circuses, vaudeville and was a featured attraction for several seasons at the New York Hippodrome.
He passed away March 8, 1916, this year will mark the 100th anniversary of his passing.
With the permission of Oakley's heirs, clownalley.net is raising funds to finally place a stone at his gravesite at Mt. Olivet Cemetary in Queens, NY.
The Fund Drive will last one weekend, March 4th-March 6th, 2016. The size and ornamentation of the stone will be determined by the amount of funds raised. A flat 24"x12" stone with a laser etched portrait of Slivers in makeup will cost approximately $3,000.00 with installation. It will be ordered on March 8th, 2016.
Slivers was a hugely influential performer and his final resting place should be marked and remembered.
Thank you all in advance for your kind consideration and generous support.
