This is Jasmine Sierra, she just turned 20 and is ready to begin her adult life. She has just recently been diagnosed with Stage 4, Ewing’s Sarcoma, but that is not the worst part. The worst part is that she was misdiagnosed with a sports injury and has been in major pain for over eighteen months.
1 ½ years ago Jasmine was in the top of her high school class and MVP of her high school basketball team. She graduated with honors and was set to join the military, get her degree and fast track to marry her fiancé and build a family. She had a plan.
She injured her back and was in severe pain. The doctors misdiagnosed her with a sports injury. She went from doctor to doctor, had physical therapy, injections in her back and all the while she had a tumor in her back. She was placed on opioids over a year ago and has been mostly bed ridden for about 6 months. All the while she was developing tumors throughout her body.
Finally her journey got her to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where they immediately diagnosed her and put a plan of treatment in action. Her treatment will not be an easy one and will take one year. She is having dual chemotherapy regimens meaning that she will alternate chemotherapy regimens every 14 days instead of the normal one regimen every 28-30 days.
The Sierra family is in URGENT need of your help. Her mom is staying in the hospital 24/7 and will be there for at least one month. If all goes well she can go home for a week and then they will return to the hospital every other week for one year. Her father has to travel over 100 miles to visit his daughter. Her younger siblings need help and support at home. The cost of this is draining the family quickly. The cost of hospital food, parking, gas, time off of work, etc. are weighing on the family. Any donation will make a dramatic difference to this family. It will help them concentrate on Jasmine and give them time with Jasmine.
