Update
September 20th 2015:
Daniel was given 1-2 months left to live on September 1st, the cancer had become aggressive and growing rapidly. He is now on hospice at home and we are cherishing every moment we have. We appreciate the support, emotionally, financially and spiritually.
History of the past 2 years:
My husband Daniel, age 31, was diagnosed with a type of cancer called spindle cell sarcoma two years ago. It is an aggressive cancer that required massive surgery and chemotherapy, we thought the doctors were able to catch it in time to save Daniel's life, however it came at a very expensive cost, not only financially but also mentally and in regards to our future. Due to the type of cancer and aggressive treatment needed to treat Daniel, we can no longer have kids naturally and must now go through fertilization treatments and alternative methods if we want kids (this has been put on hold since we got the news that Daniels cancer has spread to his lungs). We are a young married couple and do not have children yet, but wanted a family. Now we just want Daniel to have a good quality of life (able to enjoy things, try and take a trip or two to places he has always wanted to see or go to), of course we stay hopefully that a new trial study will have success. (Update: it was not successful)
The cancer has spread to his lungs and is inoperable. He had tried a trial study that did not work and is now trying to have a good quality of life as his cancer slowly makes life more painful for him. Due to the initial cancer and treatment Daniel had to take many months off work and I had to take FMLA (unpaid leave) to help care for him. I teach the visually impaired and Daniel counsels the mentally impaired. He has once again had to take FMLA due to being in too much pain to work. We are still facing previous medical bills on top of new medical bills, and now we are living on a one person income (on a teachers salary). Our families have helped us greatly and we do have a wonderful support group. We are grateful for any help you can give towards our medical bills and future.
