Pop Up Restaurant for Homeless
Donation protected
UPDATE: We have secured a date, Sunday Feb 28th , and location, The Armory, 22 S 23rd St!!
We are also expanding the scope of this event moving more toward a "Day of Service" for the Homeless. We are doing this by having on hand a number of both City and Outreach Orginazations, covering a wide range of services, to meet the needs of our Guests.
I need your help!!!
My goal is to raise 20k in 20 days.
Why do I need to do this????
The answer is simple; it's to make someone smile. Actually, it's to make 150 "someones" smile. 150 of our fellow (Homeless) Citizens to be exact.
You see, on Feburary 28th 2016, I want to create a pop up restuatant here in the City, and for one night, for just a few hours, remind "our customers" that they are not invisible - no matter how many people walk past them during rush hour. I want to reinstill in them the faith in humanity that sleeping on a steam grate has so brutally taken from them. But mostly, I want to give them a reason to smile.
Now here is where I'm delusional.
I genuinely believe that this night will change someone's life. I know 149 people are going to walk away from this event full, warm and happy. But I also believe, that ONE person will walk away from this night with a new found sense of hope. And maybe, just maybe that hope will build and allow this person to take the first step to getting back on thier feet.
Am I wrong? Maybe.
Am I crazy? Totally. But I'd rather try and be wrong, then sit here and hope the problem just goes away....
PS: We are hoping not to have this issue but a plan is being developed as to what will happen to the funds if the goal is not reached.
