Lloyd Davies desperately needs a pioneering Eye operation in the USA this spring, led by Proffessor John Guy.This, is all subject to him getting to the states and being able to stay for the duration of the treatment. He is desperate to take part in this trial.. This is Lloyds best hope of getting his Eyesight back.... Please read Lloyds story....
Lloyd Davies was born in 1993 completed his Secondary education with flying colours!

He had applied to join the Royal Navy and he was waiting to complete the final parts of the admission process – his dream was to become a Navy Diver, which he wasn't able to do until he was over 18 years old. Whilst he was waiting, he enrolled at University and began his studies in Marine Biology.

In November 2013, at the age of just 20, he complained of suffering from slightly blurred vision in his left eye. He put up with it for a short while and when it showed no signs of improvement he went to our local optician/ophthalmic office. He was referred from there to the Ophthalmic Department at our local hospital who began testing him for various possible causes.

By Christmas 2013, Lloyd had lost his vision in his left eye. Barely a month had passed from the time that he first complained of blurred eyesight to losing it almost completely.

In January 2014, he was given the devastating news that they had found the cause of his blindness and he was diagnosed as suffering from Lebers Hereditary Optical Neuritis (LHON) and that it usually affected the other eye in a matter of weeks or months.

Sure enough, shortly after the diagnosis, the sight in his right eye started to deteriorate. He stopped driving in April 2014 and in May 2014, he was issued a Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI). He is now (having just had his 21st Birthday) classed as being Legally Blind.

He has had many of his life choices taken away from him, yet he remains hopeful for the future. His dream of a Military career has been ripped from him and that has proved to be one of the most difficult things for him to come to terms with.
