Eagle Scout Project - Digitize Metal Photo Plates

My name is Nicholas Ricci. I am currently a Life Scout with Troop 6 in Caldwell, NJ and I am working towards earning the rank of Eagle Scout. To obtain Eagle Scout I must complete a service project.
My project will be at the West Caldwell Historical Society in West Caldwell, New Jersey. Several thousand linotype photo plates were donated to the Society by the local newspaper, The Caldwell Progress. These metal plates contain images that were used to create newspaper photos in the early to mid 1900s. They need to be digitally photographed and cataloged for the public to access them.
I hope to start this project in the next 4 weeks. Every donation is appreciated. The funds would be used to purchase supplies needed to properly archive and store the metal plates, such as polyethylene envelopes. Any moneys in excess of what is needed for supplies will be donated to the Historical Society.
