The mission of The Eagle Academy for Young Men- Queens is to develop young men committed to the pursuit of academic excellence, strong character, and responsible leadership by empowering at-risk inner city young men to realize their academic and civic potential with quality immersive learning experiences and proven community based practices that address shortfalls in public education.
We are attempting to take our 540 young men to see a reflection of themselves in the release of Marvel's film the "Black Panther" as it is a rare opportunity for young students (primarily of color) to see a black major cinematic and comic book character hero come to life. This representation is truly fundamental for young people, especially they are often underserved, underprivileged, and marginalized both nationally and globally.
The funds raised will cover the cost of the admission tickets ($10.00 each), which also includes concession items.
We believe this opportunity will promote a positive view of themselves, their community and leaders.
As our school has taken the initiative to embed a culture of leadership by following the model of honorable exemplary Black and Latino men throughout our history such as Muhammad Ali, Cesar Chavez, Marcus Garvey, Langston Hughes, W.E.B Dubois, Booker T. Washington. This HOUSE model provides scholars to develop connections to these great modern-day heroes in addition to fictional heroes.
We appreciate all donations that will also promote positive self-esteem and enhance their culture.
