Habitat for Hounds Doghouses
Donation protected
Habitat for Hounds gives dogs without proper shelter an insulated cozy doghouse and helps get dogs off chains and cables into kennels or a fenced in area..
Habitat for Hounds is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status charity. This will allow donors to deduct donations on their taxes. Special thanks to our founder Brenda Nash who has worked on getting tax-exempt status for months working with state and federal agencies. For donors that wish to take the deduction on your taxes our EIN Number is 84-4446905
We are working with Appalachian Animal Rescue to develop a doghouse "kit" that will include all the materials needed to assemble a house. Staff and volunteers will be able to use a kit with all pieces pre-cut so they can build a house.

Habitat for Hounds was featured in Best Friends Magazine Jan/February 2014 edition. See the article in the Updates. We have also been featured in the Franklin Press, Clayton Tribune and The Highlander,
Since it began Habitat for Hounds has provided houses for 300+ dogs! We have provided two kennel so far in the past few weeks with more to come.
Brenda Nash manages the details and I help out. Until now we have raised money via a "tip jar" at Rabun Animal Hospital, but times are tough and few in this rural area have extra cash to donate. Winter is always tough. Demand for houses goes up and donations go down due to holiday spending.
Any donation will go 100% to materials. Neither Brenda or I get any payment. Donations can also be made via PayPal using email address (h 4 h s g a @ g m a i l . c o m <---remove spaces) or checks can be sent directly to me via my postal address below. Make checks payable to Habitat for Hounds.

About the Houses
All six sides are double walled and have fiberglass insulation. The roof is removable for easy cleaning or replacement of bedding. The door has a special cover to prevent rain from getting in.
Because of supply chain disruptions which have caused the cost of materials to greatly increase a large house for a Lab or German Shepard sized dog costs $200 in materials.
