Helping Hand for Milton!
Donation protected
A line in the sand has again been crossed when it comes to the humanity of our government's policies and practices. (You can read more about why I decided to make this trip here.)
On February 23rd I will board a plane to volunteer with Border Angels in their Embajadores de Jesús Shelter in Tijuana: https://bit.ly/2mlJhGX
At a time when the Pentagon is ramping up efforts to double the number of active-duty forces at the increasingly militarized southern border, I am reaching out to friends to ask for donations in the name of peace.
Any funds you can give will be used to meet the daily changing needs of the at-capacity shelter (whose guests currently include Haitians recently arriving from Venezuela where they worked for the past 8 years, along with Central Americans and Mexican families displaced by violence).
Additional information required by GoFundMe in order to disburse funds:
-My name is Kate Larose, and I live in St. Albans, Vermont where I work as a program director for a social services agency
-Starting on February 23rd, I will be a volunteer with Border Angels at their shelter in Tijuana, Mexico
-The funds will be used based on current needs when I arrive for guests of the shelter. Per the organization, cash is preferable to Amazon wishlists, etc. Needs change daily, but recent needs include tarps, clothes, medicine, socks, etc.
-Each day I volunteer I will withdraw cash from the ATM and bring it with me to the shelter to be used by the shelter's guests. If, for some reason, I do not utilize all the funds raised while in Mexico (highly unlikely), I will PayPal the remaining balance directly to Border Angels main organization in San Diego, CA to be used as they see fit.
