THE JOURNEY FASHION FESTIVAL

Talent needs to be showcased for the world to see
With a commitment to helping emerging fashion designers gain a spot on the world stage, we fund and pay for all expenses for selected candidates from around the world to showcase during New York Fashion Week. Each season we fund 2-3 designers, from the production to models to clothing racks. 

THE JOURNEY FASHION FESTIVAL gives them the chance of a life time to do a grande runway show during NY Fashion Week. During the past seasons we have showcased designers from Nigeria, Rwanda, Russia, Costa Rica, Argentina, Columbia, Hungary, the US, Canada and underwritten graduates and alumni from prestigious design schools such as FIT.

With a radical paradigm shift happening within the fashion and retail industry, Malena Belafonte has created this platform for established and emerging international designers and brands, giving them a high profile presence during Fashion Week in both NY and other major markets, in a new and innovative format.

The “system” which has excluded 98% of international designers from the key fashion cities,  New York, London, Milan and Paris combined with the recent complacency in the retail and fashion industry has made it extremely difficult if not impossible for thousands of gifted designers to break into the fashion market in the United States.

THE JOURNEY FASHION FESTIVAL levels this historically exclusionary playing field by creatively combining these gifted designers, innovative brands, the fashion industry, the international press, the public, and the entertainment industry into an exciting showcase that appeals to all of these stakeholders, including the consumer.

We are looking to raise $25,000 to help underwrite production and other related costs for our emerging designer series in the Journey Fashion Festival in February 2018 during NY Fashion Week. The designers are chosen from an applicant pool that includes female entrepreneurs, developing countries, LGBTQ community, emerging designers and graduates from renowned design schools.

The funds will help pay for:
Models
Production, lights, sound, staging
Hair
Make Up
PR and marketing campaigns
Social media campaigns
Special venue requirements
Backstage
