Concordia Galapagos Project 2016

Hello Everyone!

I am currently a third year BSc Biology Specialization student at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I am very involved in student life through working as a Resident Assistant, being an Ambassador for the Canadian Undergraduate Conference on Health Care and playing varsity soccer in my first two years.

I have recently been chosen as one of sixteen students to travel to the Galapagos Islands for a conservation and research project. The Galapagos are located about 1000 Km off the coast of Ecuador and home to some of the most diverse and unique animal and plant species. This is an amazing opportunity for students like myself and I am beyond thrilled at the thought of this trip.

The cost of the project will be over $4000 and includes flights, a tour of the Amazon Forest and hotels while we are there. My fundraising group will be planning events to raise money at school such as bake sales, a trivia night and a talent show. However, as much as we are looking forward to these events, they will not be enough!

I know that this trip will open up a whole new branch of biology to me that is conservation. During our in-class studies we do not have the opportunity to do this, which is why I am so excited by this project. I am looking forward to bringing my knowledge and everything I learn back to Montreal and hopefully passing my education on to others.

Thank you for all your support!
