Equal Pay for girls in sport

Like many other people out there, this photo has really pissed me off. There is absolutely no reason why this young talented woman, Zoe Steyn, should receive a winners prize cheque that is less than her male counterpart. 5 years ago, when I was working for Australia Post, the prize pool for the Stawell Gift (Australia’s richest foot race) was $60K for the men versus $6k for the women. As the major sponsor of the event we demanded change. As a result Australia Post now sponsors the women’s race so that it is equal to the men’s race - $60k prize pool. Surprise surprise the number of entries in the women’s race has now significantly increased!
Unfortunately I don’t work for Billabong so I can’t influence such change in the same way. But... where there is will there’s a way.
Let's raise the AU$400 and send it to Zoe Steyn to make sure she feels just as worthy as her male peer. But I reckonwe’ll raise heaps more than that so whatever we raise above $400 we'll donate to the amazing Layne Beachley Foundation.

This foundation is committed to helping women succeed by providing financial and mentoring support for them to reach the next level. But most importantly, they help women build the confidence and self-belief they need to take that step.
Come on sisters and brothers- let’s show this world how important gender equality is!!
I’ll kick off with a personal $50au donation.
(FYI I have no personal or professional connection to the Layne Beachley Foundation.... I just love what they are about. I haven’t even informed them of this)!
