Eric's Treatment Fund
Donation protected
Eric began his battle with LCH (Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis) in March of 2017. He had a large tumor in his jaw and additional bone lesions in his collarbone, spine, and elbow. He underwent a year of infusion and oral chemotherapy. 5 months after stopping treatment, his LCH came back. A tumor put a dime sized hole in his skull while another tumor fractured his pelvis. He has since started a harsher chemotherapy regimen. Symptoms were still present 6 months into this new treatment, so we have added an oral chemotherapy to his treatment regimen. We are hoping that this will keep the LCH under control. Please keep Eric in your thoughts and prayers!
Please help us help Eric get better. This fund is being used to pay for an enormous amount of hospital bills and for living expenses due to lost income. This fund has helped us travel to Texas to see the world expert for LCH. We will need to continue to go to Texas many more times for Eric to get the best treatment possible.
No one can prepare you for that moment. The moment that your child receives a life-threatening diagnosis. The moment that time stops and your heart rips wide open. You take it one day at a time and try to hold yourself together for the sake of your children. You realize your limits, emotionally and physically, with how time constraining treatment can be. Your priorities change. Your relationships change. Some days you pray all day, some days you are too angry to pray. You realize how much stress, true stress, can take a toll on your body. Your marriage gets tested over and over and you consider each struggle a personal victory, that you are both doing this together. Some days you are ahead of the beast and some days you are flat out terrified of what it is and what it could be doing to your child.
What gets us through each day is our children. We marvel at how strong they are. We are so unbelievably proud of how strong they are! They prove us wrong over and over and prevail over so many obstacles! We try to make their dreams come true, but still remember to teach them humility in the process. They become our heroes, a thought that never would have crossed our mind before.
My son is my hero.
