Jose Fernandez and Family Need Our Help
This past Monday February, 22nd, the lives of Jose Fernandez and his family were changed forever. Shattered by a senseless and criminal act that has sent Jose to the edge of survival. Jose lies in surgical ICU, a victim of a gunshot wound to the head.
HIs state is critical and he is fighting for his life.
Jose is one of the good ones. His love for his family is unparalleled and when it comes to friends, he is all in. He has touched and reshaped the lives of so many in our community. For nearly 9 years now, he has been with us at No Name Saloon & Grill and Boneyard Saloon
& Wine Dive. A natural leader who is deeply loved and respected by his peers. Whether he’s behind the bar pouring drinks or on the floor managing he is always taking care of business and making friends every step of the way. He is the guy that will do everything he can for you.
Jose is always the guy with the biggest heart in the room.
What many don’t know about Jose is that he and his wife Grisel, recently decided it was
time for children. Just several days before this horrific tragedy took place, Grisel gave him
the wonderful news that she is pregnant. Needless to say, Jose was elated to hear that he
is going to be a father.
Over the past 3 days we have received a tremendous outpouring of love, support and interest from all corners of this community. In direct response to these many inquiries, we have set up The Jose Fernandez and Family Fund as a way to aid Jose and the Fernandez family.
As we all know, this isn’t going to be cheap. So setting a financial goal is something we find extremely difficult because the bills are rapidly mounting. Flying family members from and back to Mexico, transportation, housing and daily sustainable needs. The ICU costs alone are in the thousands of dollars every day, then add Surgeons, Tests Medications, and the many other medical expenses associated with this hospitalization. It is completely clear that the financial impact of these costs will only further devastate the Fernandez family.
There are times in our lives that we find there is only hope and prayer. This is one of those times. Our hope today is that we as a community, stand together once again. Our prayer today is unified for blessings and healing in the days that lie ahead.
We have set the initial goal at $90,000. We are confident that with your support, we can greatly reduce the financial burden Jose and his family now face.
