Puerto Rico Recovery
Donation protected
The International Consortium for Multilingual Excellence in Education (ICMEE -- https://cehs.unl.edu/icmee/) has collaborators in several places around the world, including Puerto Rico. Our colleagues in Puerto Rico are at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, Aguadilla Campus (https://www.facebook.com/InterDeAguadilla/). On October 16th, classes were able to be resumed there after the extensive devastation caused by Hurricane Maria several weeks earlier. However, most students still do not have electricity nor internet access and have had their homes flooded to such an extent that they have lost almost everything. The campus has a donation center that is collecting resources for both the students at the university as well as for their local community. Due to the difficulty in getting packages through to our colleagues, we are seeking donations to send directly to the professor we are working with (Marie J. Agésilas, ESL Professor and Accreditation Coordinator) who will purchase much needed items with these donations (personal hygiene items, diapers, baby food, canned food, etc.) and give them to the Campus Donation Center who will distribute them to students and the local community.
This is such a difficult time for our friends and colleagues in Puerto Rico. Any donation that anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated and used well. The ICMEE project is ensuring that all donations are going directly to the Campus Donation Center and used for recovery for our friends and colleagues in Puerto Rico.
Please consider donating what you can.
Thank you
