Eye Surgery to Fix Cataracts
Donation protected
Last year I had several partially detached retinas in each eye. They were all repaired over the course of a few months with laser surgery. After that was complete I had a vitreous bleed in my left eye. This required further eye surgery in a hospital, but one of the side effects of that surgery was cataracts in my left eye.
The surgeons can repair the cataracts, but to bring my eye back to near 20:20 vision would cause problems unless I get the vision on my right repaired to near 20:20 also. So, if I want my eye repaired beyond very poor vision I need to have the cataracts repaired on my left eye and PRK Laser surgery done on my right eye so they match. BC medical would cover the cataracts surgery but not after a minimum 6 months wait time, and they will NOT cover the PRK Laser surgery to correct the right eye.
The private clinic can do the surgery on the cataracts for $1750 and $1100 for the PRK Laser. All together this will cost $2850, but can be done in two stages on June 28 for the cataracts and two weeks later the RPK Laser. Recovery time is about a week for the cataracts and about 10 days for the PRK Laser. I will still need reading glasses but will no longer be relatively blind on one eye as I am now presently. Any help you may be able to give large or small is greatly appreciated.
