Eye Care for India is an organization that sponsors numerous eye camps in rural India. The purpose of this program is to spread awareness and prevent blindness across India. Not only do these eye camps provide eye glasses, they also treat cataracts, and provide education and training for those who are already blind.
The program includes a supply of vitamin A tablets in young, malnutritioned children, braile kits, eye glasses, educational kits, same day cataract surgery, and medications.
Did you know that 15 million people in India are blind?
This accounts for 1/3 of the blind population in the world!!
For just $20, a person can undergo Cataract surgery!
For $500, an eye camp can be set up in your name, which will help about 450-700 patients in just ONE day.
100% of the donations will directly go towards these eye care camps with all administration expenses covered by the founder of the organization.
To date, about 80,000 people have been treated! Imagine how many more people we can save?
The reason why I am raising money for this organization is because of my passion in Optometry. I was completely inspired by the founders passion and integrity towards this program that I was compelled to help him. For as little as $20, a person in India will be able to get Cataract surgery. The doctors performing the surgeries and providing the eye examinations are local in the area, and are volunteering their time and energy for this amazing cause.
We can definitely make a difference worldwide! Help spread the movement :)
