Black Fly Jam Presents!….
Donation protected
Hi Folks! Robin MacIntyre here, asking for a little help to get Black Fly Jam cooking once again!
The best birthday present ever would be the reality of arranging live performances once more, especially in a fantastically appointed and most beautiful venue; where the performance can be intimate, and comfort for all is the focus.
Well, my friends, the amazing thing about this dream is that after 35 years of searching for a suitable downtown location, we have now been offered just such a place, to consider as our musical home!
3 years ago, after all these successful years of presenting shows in the Sault and Algoma region, we let our insurance lapse, due to Covid and the ennui of trying to find healthy alternatives to close-contact house concerts. There were no larger venues that would fit with our safety concerns and our budget. With these parameters it became too much work to continue presenting shows. Not knowing if we would ever be able to resume, we donated our reserve account of funds to other music programs and presenters in Algoma who align with our mandate of presenting live alternative acoustic music in a convivial atmosphere.
We still feel the opportunity to enjoy live music is important, both for listeners and performers. With this welcome partnership offered by this new full production venue, the reality of this enjoyment
is back!
Our plan for 2023/24 is a subscription series of folk and alternative performance, and to also present opportunity to showcase local talent.
To this end, we need to secure funds to re-establish our NFP status and be able to apply for grants once again, as well as to bring something to the table to guarantee fees and expenses for the first few events.
Please help us get some Black Fly Jam back on the shelf!
