Our Forever baby Jasper

Jasper Roy Cyril 16/11/22 - 19/11/22 weighing 7lb 8oz. Such a perfect full-term little baby who should be here having cuddles!

Hi, my name is Susannah, one of little Jasper's heartbroken grandparents, and I am and will continue to support his devastated parent's Brett and Pauline. Instead of planning a life with their new baby, they are planning a life without him and will mourn his loss forever. It is with great hope that this page will raise enough money to enable this young couple to give Jasper the funeral and memorial he deserves and also enable them to present the remaining funds as a gift in Jaspers name to Coventry NICU. 

Jasper was 11 days from his due date and was expected to be a healthy bouncing baby boy. During mum's maternity care, there were many missed opportunities to take action; devastatingly, they were ultimately failed by Derby Hospital by the emergency c-section being delayed nearly 6 hours. Brett and Pauline never got to hold jasper, feel him move or see his beautiful eyes open. They will never hear him cry, push his pram, see him take his first steps or play on the beach. They have been robbed of their family and Jasper's future, and they want Justice for Jasper. There is no heartbreak like being faced with death when you are prepared for a new life.

Jasper and his mummy were transferred to Coventry NICU where he received specialist care, and the team fought to save his life for three days until his little body could take no more, and he devastatingly slipped away. This exceptional care by Coventry Hospital gave this young couple vital time to spend with their gorgeous, beloved little boy and enabled them to make memories in such a short amount of time.

We will always be indebted to Coventry's midwives, neonatal nurses and doctors for their love, care, compassion and sheer determination to keep little Jasper with us and to keep us strong. Without them, we would not have found the strength to get through.

We will fight to get the answers so lessons can be learnt to prevent failures in Derbys maternity services from continuing. Someone has to be the change - let's hope our little Jasper is this change so nobody else will have to feel the pain of losing a child.
