1 Million Meters Moved for American Heart Month ❤️
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US with more than 650,000 Americans dying from heart disease every year. That’s a staggering 1 person every 36 seconds! One of the best ways to reduce the risk for heart disease is to engage in physical activity.
My name is Noah Marotta. I’m a senior at Chaminade High School in Mineola, NY. I have been personally moved by this issue, as both of my grandfathers have had major heart surgery in the past 3 years. This February, in honor of American Heart Month, I’m seeking to increase awareness of healthy heart habits as well as raise money for the American Heart Association.
My goal is to move 1 million meters during the month of February and raise $10,000!
As a rower on the Chaminade Crew Team, I plan to row, walk and run a total of 1 million meters over the course of the month. That’s a total of over 621 miles! But I can’t do this alone.
WAYS YOU CAN HELP
1. Make a monetary donation. If you would like to donate in honor or memory of someone you know with heart disease, please let us know in the GoFundMe comments section. All proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association
2. Submit your own meters rowed or miles walked/run to help me reach and surpass my million meter moved goal! Row, Walk or Run in someone's honor. Document your movement by submitting a photo via private message to Instagram or Facebook that shows your meters or miles moved.
Make a donation towards my 1 Million Meter + $10,000 goal. Let’s see how far we can go together!
