100 MILE RESCUE CAT - MAJOR SURGERY TO SAVE BETA

In early 2024, friends of ours were told about an abandoned home near 100 Mile House where it was suspected that people had abandoned cats. Temperatures were hitting as low as -35 and many animals were suffering and dying. We were told that local support was unavailable and numerous requests had previously been made but not answered. Fortunately our friends in the local First Nations community of Williams Lake were eager to help and acted immediately. Traps were set and have been regularly monitored since. Teams have now visited the area for almost 12 weeks, successfully gathering a group of 39 cats and kittens; all of which have now travelled to us and most of whom have been treated, fixed and adopted to wonderful families.

Within this group, we dealt with a myriad of different health and medical issues. But for this one special boy we are URGENTLY calling out for help. Beta, an incredibly sweet and gentle large male cat has been diagnosed with hip dyplasia (less common in cats than dogs but occurs nonetheless) and will need surgery on BOTH hips; done one hip at a time, the surgical cost alone is almost $5,000 ($2384.44 per hip is the estimate below). The surgery is expensive and the recovery time lengthy and daunting. But the prognosis is very good very such a young and otherwise healthy boy. While some would criticize for spending so much on a cat, this incredible survivor has been through so much and his gentle affectionate demeanour brings so much love and joy to his family - we will not even consider the alternative. BETA deserves our help and support. He is currently in our care and will remain so through the surgery and the recovery process.
