100 miler ultra for Angeles de Medellin foundation

Hello,

I'm doing my first 100-mile ultramarathon starting on Saturday 20th July from Rhossili Bay to Cardiff, Wales. First time doing this type of distance... My first goal will be to finish it but think it will take anywhere between 24-30 hours.

I’ve decided to raise money for the charity foundation I volunteered at in Medellin, Colombia when I was there in 2014. The foundation is called 'Angeles de Medellin'. It is run by Marcos Kaseman, an American from Rochester, New York who helps the community in a myriad of ways with the help of volunteers. The Angeles de Medellin Foundation is the oldest foreign-owned foundation in Colombia which Marcos set up in 2006 to help the region's poor and displaced children and families.

Any donations will go to helping teach English to children, provide dentistry and emergency healthcare, business classes for women (particularly single mothers), IT classes, food for the elderly, sports equipment, clothes and shoes for the community. The region is subject to the ongoing conflict between paramilitaries, drug cartels and police and Marcos’ foundation provides a safe place for children to reside, have fun and learn. On top of that, his classes provide opportunities to those who wouldn’t usually have access to them; providing invaluable and at times, life-saving services for the community.

My sister and her partner visited and volunteered at the foundation earlier this year (about 10 years after I had) and Marcos is still going strong and doing amazing things for the community and children.

Just for absolute clarity, all donations will go to the foundation. I have paid for all my travel expenses and entries etc.
